It’s the worst experience any parent can endure: their child is missing and a frantic search results in the most horrific news possible. The murder of a child is a pain that most people cannot even begin to comprehend.

Somer Thompson was a bright 7-year-old who attended elementary school in Orange Park, Florida. On Monday, October 19 she was walking home with her sister and some friends when the conversation turned to an argument that Somer had with another girl that morning. This upset Somer, and she ran off on her own. Her sister saw her disappear into a distant crowd. It was the last time she saw Somer alive.

The search for Somer Thompson received national media attention. An Amber Alert was set up immediately and law enforcement officials labored desperately to find the young girl. Missing child posters that prominently featured Somer’s smiling face were placed on every available surface between the Thompson home and the school. America held its breath as we waited to hear what had happened.

On Wednesday, October 21, police officers discovered the body of a young girl in a Georgia landfill near the Florida border. She was first identified based on a birthmark and her clothing, then later confirmed using dental records. They had found Somer Thompson.

Florida Sheriff Rick Beseler made the most difficult call of his life and notified Somer’s parents, Samuel and Diena Thompson, that their daughter had been murdered. The Thompson’s were devastated to have their deepest fear confirmed; their beautiful baby girl had been violently taken away from them.

Following this tragic news another intensive search began. FBI agents started working with police officers to find the person who committed this heinous crime. Florida officers immediately searched for registered sex offenders within a five-mile radius of the school Somer attended, but so far they have no suspects. Their search will continue in earnest until the murderer is found.

Although the Thompson family is overwhelmed by their loss, they remain dedicated to finding the predator responsible for this appalling deed. Somer’s mother told the world, “I want you to know that I will not sleep until this person is found. I hope they get you and I hope they make you pay for a long, long time.” Somer’s father boldly stated, “Gold help the sons of bitches who hurt my daughter. They better find them.”

Our hearts go out to the entire Thompson family. They have received an incredible outpouring of support from their community. On Thursday, October 22, people from all over the area walked to the Thompson’s home to hold a candlelight vigil. The group sang songs, dropped off hundreds of gifts and let the grieving family know that people care about them and the horrible ordeal they are suffering through. They are not alone.

Investigators believe that they will be able to track the killer down. The search is on, the net is being thrown out and as we all watch we can only hope and pray that the guilty party will be found quickly. Somer was last seen in a busy residential area, and there is optimism that someone may have seen something that might be useful. As an mlm Moms myself I’ve found that every day I feel like I’m balancing on a teeter totter. Successful business, happy family (including a tidy and deep cleaned home). At first I couldn’t see how I could have both.

I’m sure as an Mlmer yourself you’ve felt what I’m describing. Standing in the middle of the teeter totter, one foot on each side, wobbling a bit to try to maintain some balance. Then a big event comes up and suddenly all of your weight goes to the home business side of the teeter totter and your family shoots to the sky wondering what happened to their mom!

It’s not easy, but I’ve found that it’s worth it. And I’ve also found a way to show you how to balance a little (did I say a little…I mean, a lot) easier on that little teeter totter of yours.

The events are fun, albeit expensive and time consuming, and not always worth it. Yes, they pump you up and you learn some of the things that your company of choice is coming out with to benefit you as a network marketer. But think about it from the teeter totter standpoint and tell me if the events are important enough to sacrifice your family for?

We have heard it a million times from our upline: “If you go to this event you’ll be successful”.

Gag me! It’s a lie. You can get excited sitting at home at your computer. You can also learn about the new stuff coming out from your company online at your cookie cutter website.

This lie bothers me because they ask you to go into debt for a party and tell you that just by being at the party you’ll be a success.

I’m sorry ladies, but going to the event will not prosper you. Taking action will, and using the right tools to take action will.

So first find balance by staying at home. (Remember that if you like these fun events then you should still go. But just for the fun of it. For the “getting out” element. Not because you believe that going is the source of all of your future success.)

Next, find balance by using tools to put it on auto-pilot.

Now, to be fair, 100% auto-pilot is not really the smartest thing. In fact, I haven’t seen it actually be true that something can be on 100% auto-pilot.

But I have seen 80% and even 90% auto-pilot. And that’s what I want to recommend to you.

Tools are required, but I can save your life (I mean, your budget) there too.

When I first got started I got talked into spending over $200 per month just for my tools. These were tools with a monthly ding, and I was hurting because I wasn’t replacing the funds fast enough. Pretty soon I was in some pretty massive debt.

The tools that I recommend to you are pretty basic. One of them costs just under $50 per month, and the other is just under $20. Wrap your phone bill (unlimited LD I hope!) and your internet bill in there and you should be good to go. Write it off on your taxes.

Free is GOOD. But I still recommend the tool because in essence it’s everything that I’m talking about. Auto-pilot.

These tools is designed to capture the highly qualified lead for you (all you have to do is get people to the page and It will sift and sort for you.) and then train them (with your optional mentorship) for you.

I don’t know about you but when I was running my MLM manually I was spending a LOT of time training people one on one. My family started telling me I was always on the phone…and they even started to get mad at me for it. It was pretty stressful. I enjoyed helping people, but not to the extent that my family was that unhappy.

Motherhood should come first for any mom. It’s important. We don’t just give birth and then we’re off the hook! (right?) We’ve got some kids to raise and teach and we want them to know that they are important to us.

Through social interaction your child will learn how to relate and effectively ‘deal’ with children of their own age. Too often our children have social interaction only with adults until they must go to school at which time the culture shock is immense.

The second reason for getting your toddler involved in playgroups is that being around other young children creates confidence and sense of security while in a group. Your child will not only interact personally with the other children, but will have the opportunity to make observations of the activity that surrounds them. Watching other kids playing or learning can give your child ideas – how to solve problems, how to make friends, share etc. This type of socializing is critical for development but, perhaps more importantly, it is fun for your child. Studies have proven that children who are regularly exposed to kid’s activities, events or playdates are better adjusted and better behaved overall.

If you want your toddler to be more social, playgroups, playdates and events where other young children are present are a good way to accomplish it. Learning to play well with others is a critical part of human development and the skills gained while playing and learning will pay great dividends later in life. Learning a new language is daunting at the best of times, unless you are like myself and take it as a challenge, to improve your own skills and to develop your own personal being.  Most people you talk to will say that it is easy for children, but have you ever wondered why??

Babies and children mimic adults as a way of learning, what else can they do?? At nursery school learning skills are based on “show and learn” “copying skills” “do as I do” etc., developing language skills is exactly the same regardless of the age.

I teach english to primary students from the age of 7 through to 11 in a french school, I use very primitive methods of learning, I literally start the children off as though they are babies, which is logic as it is an initiation into a new language.  7 years of learning your own language is enormous in the life of somebody, listen to any 7 year old talk and take a mental note of the amount of vocabularly learnt in that space of time.

Using dvd’s aimed at the younger age group stimulates the students, they do not find it “babyish” because they are too busy listening to the difference in tonality of the english voices.  We use stickers, pens, papers, coloured pencils, building blocks – anything that will stimulate the younger mind – learning has to remain fun so as not to become boring.

7 is a difficult age to start to learn and in my view it is not early enough, children in Holland learn english from the age of 4, hence the reason why most dutch people speak fluent english.   English is taught alongside Maths, History and Geography, no particularly attention is paid to the subject, it is just part of the curriculum!!

At the age of 7 the face muscles become “stiff”, pronoucing new sounds that don’t exist in certain languages becomes difficult.  In France the sound “th” does not exist, that is why often you hear television presenters say “ze”, the concept of using the tongue to produce the sound “th” has never been developed therefore the muscles and the brain do not communicate to produce this sound.  It takes at least 3 weeks of practise to perfect this sound and then it is not natural so easy to slip back into the “ze”.  In everyday use it doesn’t matter, but when a child loses marks for pronunciation in exams in becomes very important.

The sound “r” as it is pronounced in english is pronounced systematically as a “w” when presented to a french child, the colour “red” becomes “wed”, hence the importance to develop language skills at a very early age.

If you ask a 3 year old to say “red” they say “red”, ask a 7 year old and automatically they repeat “wed”.  As a language teacher I have spent many a moment in studying the children’s mouths and watching my own mouth in the mirror in order to understand the differences and the difficulties.

Many people say that it is easy when you are a child, this is one of the major reasons why, you don’t have to worry about forming the right position with your mouth and even when you do know you have to, you don’t have to worry about whether you can or not.

A child’s brain is a sponge – we have often heard this said.  In fact a child’s brain has a lot more “empty” space, therefore things are more easily absorbed.  A child finds it easier to class information, to seperate into categories and remember things as and when needed.  Adults take on board information, their brains do not have the same facility in “filing” new information and often file it away in the wrong place – how often to we have to “rack our brains” to find that name or phone number or where we put the car keys!!!!!!  If the remote control goes missing at home I often ask our 5 year old, she inevitably remembers where it was last seen, ask our teenagers and they have no idea!!

To learn a new language as an adult is not always difficult, I myself found learning french fairly easy but then again I was very open to the idea and allowed my brain the time and the space to class the information as and when needed.  Associating the language to situations helped a lot and infact this comes back to a child’s teaching – look and learn.  Adopting the same attitude as an adult helps.

The earlier that you can teach yourself and your children a new language the better, it doesn’t have to be complicated, odd words, picture dictionnaires, holidays in foreign countries (take the phrase book), books, dvd’s, computer games, these days there are no end of “aids” on the market, including internet to help.
